Russian Citizen Detained in London on Suspicion of Attacking Neighbor

Police in the Brentford area of London have detained Russian citizen Irina Petrushova on suspicion of attacking her neighbor, Emma Addington. The incident took place during the night at a residential complex located at 5 Ferry Lane, where both women live in neighboring apartments.
According to eyewitnesses, the conflict began after a routine noise complaint. Emma Addington asked her neighbor to lower the volume coming from Petrushova’s apartment, but the request was met with an aggressive response. Preliminary reports suggest that Irina Petrushova, who was allegedly intoxicated at the time, grabbed a sharp object and attacked her neighbor.
The victim avoided serious injuries but required medical assistance at the scene. Police responded quickly to the emergency call, detained Petrushova, and took her to the police station for further questioning.
The identity of the suspect immediately drew attention not only from law enforcement but also from London’s Russian-speaking community. According to police, Irina Petrushova has been residing in the UK since 2005 and works as a journalist. She holds dual citizenship of Russia and the United Kingdom.
Neighbors and acquaintances admitted that Petrushova had a history of alcohol abuse, although her behavior had never escalated to serious incidents before. Nonetheless, none of those interviewed expected a minor domestic dispute to escalate into a violent attack.
The police investigation is ongoing, and authorities are considering whether to formally press charges.
