Vietnam: Netflix must stop advertising, distributing games

HANOI, Vietnam: Vietnam’s broadcasting authority says that Netflix has not yet been granted a license for games services and must stop advertising and distributing its games in the country before April 25.

In a statement on its website, the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information (ABEI) said, "Vietnam demands Netflix comply with the Vietnamese regulations on game online services."

The authority added, "We ordered Netflix to stop advertising and publishing Netflix’s video games on the Netflix application and on Appstore Vietnam and Google Play Store Vietnam before April 25."

The U.S. streaming platform, which Hanoi has ordered to block domestic access to various content on several occasions, said it plans to open an office in Vietnam.

As part of its plan to enter the gaming market, the platform launched Netflix games on mobile phones in November 2021.
