Amazon begins COVID-19 vaccinations for U.S. employees

SEATTLE, Washington: Amazon will provide COVID-19 vaccinations at its facilities for its U.S. employees, the company said on Thursday.

Amazon’s announcement comes as companies throughout America seek to vaccinate all employees.

Amazon currently offers Covid testing for employees. It will begin offering vaccinations at sites in Missouri, Nevada and Kansas, followed by the remainder of the country as vaccinations become available.

Also, Amazon will offer up to $80 to front-line workers who are unable to come to clinics.

Other companies offering cash assistance to employees include Marriott International and grocery retailer Kroger Co, as an incentive for staff to become vaccinated.

This past December, Amazon requested that the U.S. government recognize its warehouse, grocery and data center staff as essential workers, which would have entitled them to quickly receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
