The BE OPEN Regional Art Competition for Emerging Artists' February Artist of the Month

The first month of a new worldwide competition for budding artists was reviewed by BE OPEN Art, an online art gallery established by the BE OPEN think tank, a humanitarian project sponsored by multinational businesswoman and philanthropist Elena Baturina.
Beginning in 2023, the BE OPEN expert committee began choosing the artists who best exemplify the Easte Mediterranean region's cultural and aesthetic identity. The competition's first phase is located in the area that includes Cyprus, Turkey, the Greek Dodecanese Islands, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Israel, Jordan, and Egypt. It will last for the first three months of the year.

Jovanna Theodosiou has been named the regional artist of the month for February based on the majority of votes cast by visitors to the BE OPEN Art online gallery. Jovanna, who presently lives and works in Nicosia, Cyprus, studied fine art at Kingston University in the UK.
In March, the general audience will choose one more Artist of the Month, and the professional panel of BE OPEN will pick one of the three as the winner of the Easte Mediterranean stage. Each regional winner will get a cash prise of 500 euros, and the greatest pieces of art from each area will be shown publicly while the artists are recognised.
Since each regional stage lasts three months, there will be four stages every year, with winners announced for each. At the conclusion of the year, the competition's emphasis will shift to the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, and Central Africa.
The regional competition will run concurrently with BE OPEN Art's normal ongoing projects. Each month, 20 artists are chosen by BE OPEN Art's experts for the gallery, and online voting is used to choose the Artist of the Month and the Artist of the Year.
BE OPEN Art chooses artists early in their careers with the goal of showcasing and supporting them; the initiative views its goal as finding the newest influences in the art world.
Being highlighted in BE OPEN Art gives upcoming artists the chance to be noticed and serves as a springboard for relationships to be established between today's young artists and collectors. With the current state of the world's humanitarian situation, emerging artists and collectors are even more motivated to create and amass socially significant works of art.
